Established in 1979, this three-day summertime celebration at Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy requires the work of 4,000 community volunteers, whose efforts have returned over $7 MILLION to various local charities. Each year The Festival provides its profits to an estimated 150 local non-profit organizations , ranging from the Antonio Del Buono School to the United Methodist Church of Gilroy.
The festival site is at Christmas Hill Park at 7050 Miller Drive in Gilroy. The festival is held from July 28-30, 2006 from 10:00am to 7:00pm. Gates will close at 6:00pm.
The 29th edition of the Festival will feature activities that include the internationally acclaimed Great Gilroy Garlic Cook-Off, 60 live concerts from three stages, arts & crafts booths and a rollicking children’s area, always a highlight of the weekend because The Gilroy Garlic Festival focuses on family fun with a target demographic of age 25-44 adults with children.
Festival activity is annually chronicled by a worldwide media audience via the Food Network.
